Happy is here!

Now that the Breeders' Cup is in the rear-view mirror thoroughbred racing in North America has just about vanished from the sporting radar screen. However, at Woodbine, there is reason to watch the entries carefully these days. As young Hiroshi Ando, all 100 lbs of him, has just embarked upon his career as a jockey.

Sporting the handle of 'Happy', bestowed upon him by Newmarket trainer, John Gosden (when he worked at Stanley House Stables in Newmarket three years ago), young Ando whose father owns a successful stable of horses in Japan has shown considerable promise under the guidance of Canadian trainer, Phil england (Afleet etc.)

So watch out for the England/Ando combination reaching the winner's circle at rewarding odds between now and the end of the Woodbine season in three weeks time.
